Voter registration numbers edge up
Voter registration numbers edged up in August, and with just three weeks until early voting starts, Iowa Secretary of State Michael Mauro reports there are 2,102,528 Iowans registered to vote in the 2010 general election.
“No Party” was the big gainer with 3,487 new voters registered. Republicans gained 457, Democrats 114 and “other: gained 32.
Overall, here are 699,707 Democrats, 645,606 Republicans, 755,513 No Party and 1,702 other, Mauro said. The totals include active and inactive voters.
A month ago, there were 2,098,438 registered voters in Iowa.
