The Linn County Board of Supervisors on February 1 awarded $80,000 in grants from the Linn County Board of Supervisors Witwer Trust Fund to 52 local non-profit organizations. The recipients were selected through an annual competitive grant process that began in November. The Board of Supervisors received 65 applications requesting more than $182,000.

The Witwer Trust was established by Weaver Witwer, a prominent Cedar Rapids grocer and landowner who died in 1979. The Witwer Trust grant cycle begins November 1 of each year. Competition is open to non-profit organizations in Linn County for projects that benefit Linn County residents.
